Let’s assume that you have made few changes in a particular file or say you want to make two instances of a single file. To do this, open or create the file that you want to place side by side or make another instance. Then, right-click on the tab and select Clone to Other View.
To get the job done, you need an additional little tool: KeyHH.exe. KeyHH.exe from KeyWorks Software is available for free. After you have downloaded and installed KeyHH.exe (in the Windows folder), you can use the command line option -#klink to search for a keyword.
According to this trick, if you enter the flight number of the flight that struck the twin tower, i.e. Q33N in notepad and then change the font type to ‘wingdings’ and the font size to 72, then you’ll see a very strange thing.
The images are also exported to Evernote as attachments, not embedded images, with the extension “.null” not JPG, which means you have to manually rename it to get it to display properly and re-add it to the note to get it to show in-line.
To be honest, the Win/DOS version makes more sense to me. “\r” means “Carriage Return, or ‘Return the carriage/cursor to the beginning of the line'” and “\n” means “Advance the carriage/cursor forward one line”. Of course, Unix came 20 years before, so I guess in that sense it is Microsoft who broke the standard. – Brian Lacy Nov 12 ’10 at 20:49
now you’ll need to save this file with an extension .bat , and upon clicking on the .bat file that you have created, you’ll see something like this.

If you want to replace a particular word or text with some other word, in multiple files, open all the files in Notepad++. Press Ctrl + H, type the word you want replaced, and the new word in the given fields and click on the Replace All in All Opened Documents. To save all the files at once, press Ctrl + Shift + S.
The flight number of the airplane that had hit World Trade center on 9/11 was Q33NY. Well, you might call this trick coincidence but, it will shock you.
My personal favorite plugin is NppFTP, found through the Plugin Manager under Plugins. Once installed, you can choose to show the FTP sidebar. From here you can set up profiles for different FTP servers on which you’d like to keep your documents. This is great for those of us who have files saved on a server, but would like the ability to save immediately to the server, or download from the server quickly within Notepad++. This setup works great for web developers because often you only require minor changes to a file or two, and Notepad++ offers syntax highlighting of these files to boot!
An E-bomb is a simple type of computer prank that tricks a friend (or enemy) into thinking his or her computer is being hacked, is infected with a virus, or is experiencing a serious error. The process of executing an E-bomb involves writing a special kind of file using notepad which contains commands that slow down the computer, crash the system, or merely startle the user, then tricking the user into opening the file. E-bombs can be anything from a minor annoyance to a system-destroying nightmare for the user; the E-bombs in this article are intended merely as innocuous pranks, so the worst they’ll do is cause a computer to crash. Note: These E-bombs are for Windows PCs – they will not work on Macs without special adjustments for compatibility. See Step 1 below to get started.
I have just downloaded notepad++. I have a website and I want something where, I can change or add a link to the menu to one page and the change can be made on all the pages. I read at a forum that the notepad++ does this. But find and replace does not do this. I want to insert, not replace. Can u please help. Am a novice at this, so simple language please 🙂 thanks
Macros One of the killer features for Notepad++ is the ability to automate those trivial things we have to write on a daily basis. To do this with macros, simply click the record button on the toolbar and perform the task. For example, if you wanted to delete every other character in a document, you would click right, right, then backspace. After doing this once, click the stop button to finish recording your macro. Press play each time you want this action performed, or click the fast forward button to initiate the action multiple times. You can even save a created macro for further use, by assigning it one of the many available keyboard shortcuts found under the save macro button.
Great work! I’ve made it a bit more generic, now you can type your own text really simple. btw if you use notepad++ and enable regular expressions in search&replace you can just search for and replace it with a normal double-quote. dim t dim text dim min dim max ‘text that should be typed text = “none shall pass!” ‘minimum time between 2 letters min = 100 ‘maximum time between 2 letters max = 200 ‘ `function´ to write text letter by letter Sub writeText(theText) for i=1 to Len(theText) ‘write 1 letter wshshell.sendkeys Mid(theText,i,1) ‘get random sleep time randomize t = min + (rnd * ((max – min) + 1)) wscript.sleep t next End Sub ‘main runtime set wshshell = wscript.CreateObject(“wScript.Shell”) wshshell.run “Notepad” wscript.sleep 400 writeText(text)
Suppose, you have made a mistake in writing a particular word. For instance, you have written ABC instead of XYZ. To find all the wrongly written words, you do not have to open one file at a time and check them. Instead, you can just open all the files at once using the guide mentioned above. Then, press Ctrl + F and go to Find tab. Now, write down what you want to find and hit the Find All in All Opened Documents button. You will get the result in the bottom of your Notepad++ window. From here, you can go to that particular file and find the error.
From now on whenever you open this file notepad will automatically insert time and date to this file before your note. So you can use it as your dairy if you want, after every update in file, save it.

If you do not like the default themes of Notepad++, you can make one according to your wish and set it as your default theme. The primary requirement is that you have to save the theme file with a .xml extension, and place it inside the following folder:
It’s my favorite feature. You can line up multiple lines by ,(comma), = (equal sign) or clipboard character. It is very useful and helpful in Box selection. TextFX > TextFX Edit > line up multiple lines by …
Microsoft Notepad has been included in every version of Windows going back to Windows 1.0 in 1985. It’s an extremely minimalist text editor, and when I say minimalist, I mean minimalist. If Microsoft Word is a “10” as a word processor, Notepad is around a “.000004” (give or take a few zeros).
The system supports pressure sensitivity, but realistically only delivers with a hard or a medium pressure. Light lines do not get picked up, which makes fine sketches a bit hit and miss; the user doesn’t know whether the lines that are clearly visible on the page have been accurately captured or not.
If you’re not too fond of the way Notepad++ looks, or you’re just in the mood for a little change, there are some tweaks you can choose through the Style Configurator. This tool is located under Settings on the Menu bar. From here you can select an included theme, but you certainly aren’t limited to these. You may define your own globally, or limit it to specific languages. You can also change the default font from here (which I usually do, as Courier New’s 1’s tend to look an awful lot like lowercase L’s). You can do a little bit more tweaking from the Preferences menu, also found under Settings. From here, you can check the Vertical checkbox to load the tabs on the side. You can also choose to hide the menu bar, revealing it with the Alt key.
On Ubuntu, the editor of our choice is Kate, because of the host of features it has, one which we like in particular is the terminal which is embedded in the editor itself, which makes life a lot easier when you need constant access to the terminal for running the codes when working with languages like Python and C. There is a feature similar to that in Notepad++ too.

Column Editing Another interesting feature you won’t find in your everyday text editor is Column Editing. You can invoke column selection by holding down the Alt key while selecting text. From here you can cut, copy, paste, insert, and delete, just as you would with normal text selection. Furthermore, you can insert Variable Text in these column selections. By default, Notepad++ allows you to insert an initial number with an incremental value, so that you can create numbered lists on the fly.

Now save the note as “cdvirus.vbs”. Now, if you open this file in your system, your cd drive will pop-out continuously. You can try this trick on your friends computer and give him the fright of his life. The cdvirus.vbs can be closed only by rebooting your Windows PC.

Once you have decided on and installed a better text editor, you will probably want to associate the common Rainmeter file types of .ini, .inc, and .lua with the application. This can be done in Windows Explorer:
Now you can be just like Matthew Broderick at the height of 1983 tech and make your PC talk with a human-ish voice. It’s fun! Here’s what you do. 1) Type the following code into a Notepad doc: Dim Message, Speak Message=InputBox(“Enter text”,”Speak”) Set Speak=CreateObject(“sapi.spvoice”) Speak.Speak Message 2) Save as “talk.vbs” or whatever (the important thing is that you save it as a .vbs file). 3) Double-click on the icon to prompt a pop-up window. Enter some text in the box and behold your ear holes!
Generally, It is needed to convert new line/tab character. Suppose you have to remove new line character: Press Ctrl+H , Select the ‘Extended Search Mode’. Use \n in find what and nothing in replace with textbox. Click Replace All to remove new line character.
Some background: “\r\n” is the escape code for carriage-return, the standard for new lines in Windows. Unix-style systems use simply \n (newline). Most IDEs, Notepad++ included, will understand both styles and portray them each with new lines, but core Windows utilities do not understand \n as being equivalent to \r\n, so the latter is usually the most appropriate if the file is intended to be used in Windows environments.
Well, this trick will only work on older version of windows. You just need to open the Notepad and type “bush hid the facts” or “this app can break”. Save it and open it again. You will see different characters instead of what you typed. Well, this happens because of a bug that is present in older version of windows.
P.S.: If you save a file and the upload icon does not go away after a few second’s it means that you have lost your connection with the Rpi, just copy the contents of the file you were working on in a temporary file, because after connecting again, if you open the file on the Rpi from Notepad++, it will open the previous version and discard the one that you were working on.

One can save the link as bookmark so as to get one click access and then all set to a multipurpose browser. This tip is valuable for students, bloggers, marketers who need to extract data from Internet time to time for their various purposes.
Thus, any hint of political conspiracy fades into oblivion and is replaced by a rather mundane programming bug. It seems probable that a certain combination and/or frequency of letters in the character string cause Notepad to misinterpret the encoding of the file when it is re-opened. If the file is originally saved as “Unicode” rather than “ANSI” the text displays correctly. Older versions of Notepad such as those that came with Windows 95, 98 or ME do not include Unicode support so the error does not occur.
Please see the batch code below. This will first check that your file is an MB file; if so, it will search for the MBX and run it (and start MapInfo Professional, if necessary). If no MBX is found, you will be prompted to compile your file first.

The folio feels well made, but is quite bulky for such a small notepad – and A5 can be quite cramped for note taking and drawing. It has a small slip pocket for the pen, held by the clip, a pocket for spent sheets of paper and a magnetic clasp to hold them in place.
Similar to VS 2010, Box Selection (aka column selection, block selection, or rectangular selection) exists in Notepad++. You need to hold down the Alt key while doing a selection; you can select a block horizontally.
The best bit is that the pen feels normal, like any slightly bigger ballpoint. But it also feels a bit cheap, the pen cap doesn’t always stay on the end when in use and you can only change the ballpoint cartridge – you can’t use your favourite pen.
Notepad takes the concept of “no frills” to the extreme. But what it lacks in word-processing abilities, it makes up for as a minimalist scratchpad for basic coding. Aside from basic text functionality, Notepad is a reliable repository for old-school programming languages like VBScript. Users can create simple programs to personalize the Windows experiences (or just perform a neat little tricks). There are of course better text editors out there for all you code jockeys, but Notepad is the text editor for everyone (running Windows).
Notepad++ is the most popular text editor for Windows, and we love its speed and power, but it’s even better once you dig a little deeper. Here’s a look at the many ways you can use Notepad++ more effectively.
